AVID manages the PETtrac Database to ensure that the high quality found in the Micro Chip products continues in the service which is provided to vets, rescue centres, dog wardens and pet owners alike.Supplying the complete pet Micro Chipping solution is what AVID does so well and we take pride in the products and services we provide. If your pet has another manufacturer’s microchip, you’ll need to set up an account through that manufacturer’s site. Use the AAHA’s Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool.Once you have set up an account, check to see that all registration information is correct, especially phone numbers and addresses. We simply inject a microchip, smaller than a paperclip and about the size of a grain of rice (see photo above), beneath the surface of your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. Please don’t think that if your dog is not likely to ‘get out’ that there is no need to have them micro-chipped. We read at least half a dozen reports of missing or found cats each day.
If your dog is over 8 weeks of age, it should be micro-chipped.The aim has not changed, but the products have evolved to include a choice of two implantation products to better suit your requirements.
